Nick Automatic x WIP Caps 'Shadaloo Army' now available at our Philippine online store! This is the second time WIP has worked with Nick Automatic. This time working as collaborators to produce 'Shadaloo Army'. Designed by One of Nick Automatic's designers Chad Manzo, the cap takes its inspiration by the super villain M. Bison from the classic video game Street Fighter II.
Check out the following videos of Nick and Chad talking about the Nick Automatic brand and the 411 on the Shadaloo Army collab project.

Shadaloo Army was exclusively available (for the Manila market) in our new retail partner Sole Academy as part of our HeadStart store releases. The store opened it's doors on October 7 and we were there to join the festivities. Shadaloo is still available at SA so grab em while stocks last!

We're not about to leave you guys in the US high and dry. We've got the Christian Cabuay x WIP Caps collab available at the USA shop. The Ka cap will be available on the Philippine online store starting next Monday October 24. Until then, it is ONLY available at Urban Athletics in Makati City.

As the title states, our Invasion is imminent and we now have our sights on Urban Athletics. Starting this Saturday October 8, WIP will be stocked at Urban Athletics (or uA for short). There are two good reasons why you should make it down to uA this Saturday.
First-up, uA will be kicking-off their in-store party series called Pulse Saturdays. For the first edition of Pulse Saturdays, they are featuring the KINGS ON DECK mixtape by DJ Scratchmark and our boy and WIP flag bearer MC Dash. Some special live performances and lots more cooked-up. So be sure to check it out!

On top of the crazy party, we have one more treat for you in form of a special drop. As part of the WIP Caps HeadStart series, Urban Athletics will get a HeadStart on the 'Ka' release!
Starting this Saturday and for the next 2 weeks, the Christian Cabuay x WIP Caps 'Ka' collab will ONLY be available at Urban Athletics before it will be available elsewhere. You too should get a HeadStart and cop the 'Ka' cap at Urban Athletics!

Almost on a daily basis, we get the question,"Where can I buy WIP?" on our website(email) and on Facebook. In some cases, it gets more specific like "Where can I buy WIP... at a mall?". Yeah, that's right, a mall. And to that we answer, "WIP Caps, available at Capital G, located at Robinson's Galleria Mall."
And No, the 'G' of Capital G does not stand for Galleria so don't get it twisted.

Capital G's boss lady, Chelo Aestrid
Capital G Calye, has been open for almost 2 months now and they are going hard with it. The space is packed with activities such as the retail area where they carry several brands including their inhouse label clothing and accessories. They have a dance studio at the back where kids can get schooled on some fly B-boy moves. They take it even further with MC and DJ lessons at the music corner. Kids have it way too Good these days. Now that Good with a capital G.

On the MIC is Knowa Lazarus with Flava Matikz on the ones and twos.

Big event at Capital G Calye this Wednesday the 28. Battle Of The Champs Dance competition is on, so be sure to check that out.

“Thelma” is the first full-length feature film production of Time Horizon Pictures and is directed by film and TV-commercial director Paul Soriano. It is the story of a simple young girl from the province-Thelma (played by Maja Salvador) whose family is beset with challenges when she discovers her uncanny gift of speed. Her talent then opens doors for her – to elevate her family’s situation and change the course of her own life. But to do that she will have to run- against all obstacles, against personal hindrances, against shadows from her past, and against her own self-doubts.
“Many people run away from their problems, she ran to fix them.” Thelma is inspired by the stories of true Filipino athletes who were discovered in the province, and fought their way to represent the Philippines in the world stage.

THELMA - A Film By Paul Soriano Showing Nationwide on September 7, 2011
This guy Paul Soriano made a movie; excuse me, The Movie. He hates it when you don't make The distinction. Paul likes putting "The" on everything so much, he worked it in the main character's name(and movie title). I'm surprised he didn't call it The Thelma.
Jokes a side, Paul is The real close friend of the WIP crew. We all came-up together from our school boy days in ISM, where he was known for his school yard shenanigans. Now a days, he's still a major goof ball prankster but with the awesome ability to direct great films.

To support and commemorate our boy Paul's latest cinematic achievement, we made the Thelma baseball stretch-fit to suit The Director's personality. Some of the not so obvious features are the numerical date on the back of the cap 090711, which is the film's nationwide showing date. The design on the visor's underside is the chalk lines you would see in a track and field oval with the numbers 101781. This is Paul's birth day and not his ATM pin number.

Follow Thelma on Facebook to get more info on the film and the crew behind it
Another major acknowledgment goes to WIP's very own Mark Victor aka Mav. He worked side by side with Paul as the Editor of this full length film. For those who don't know, Mav's the guy behind all the dope animated WIP banners and promo videos you've seen on our website, Youtube and Facebook.

Mav and Paul actually work together ALL THE TIME. These two cinematic creatives have worked on a ton of projects and have picked-up the momentum these last couple of years. Will you guys get a room already?!

CONGRATULATIONS YOU GUYS!
To end this blog entry, we leave you with Paul's Showreel which showcases his body of work consisting of TV Commercials, Music Videos and Full length films. Also check out tons of Thelma Behind The Scenes stuff at TimeHorizonPictures. Go watch Thelma showing on September 7!

We went toe to toe with URCC and came out with a collab!
Whether you're a straight-up Mixed Martial Arts guy or just into insane bloody beat downs, you know URCC is holdin' it down here in the Philippines. Universal Reality Combat Championship or URCC is nearing it's 10th year and behind it all are the founders and organizers, Irwin Tieng, Franz von Muhlfeld, Jed Dario and Alvin Aguilar.

Coming-up thru High School and College, we watched our share of UFC, K1, Pride and of course URCC. However, with the exception of Verns(WIP USA) who trained in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, we at WIP aren't real MMA heads. But even so, we all knew about the Bad Ass Mother F'er called Alvin Aguilar. Back then it was just something kids in Manila knew about. There were legendary tales going around and I was quite surprised to read about some of it being referenced on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alvin_Aguilar
All that aside and in the past, Alvin Aguilar is now known all over for his numerous achievements in the MMA scene and most notably, as the father of Philippine MMA by creating URCC. Talk about taking your passion to newer and greater heights.

Earlier this year, we were approached by URCC to help expand their brand merchandise and so WIP came thru with a easy to wear stretch-fit baseball cap. On the bottom of the visor is the famous URCC tag line "BAKBAKAN NA!" or simply translated to Let's Fight!.
The URCC stretch-fit caps come in 2 sizes S/M and L/XL and are now available at K-1 Extreme Sportshop (14 Gilmore, Corner Santolan Road, Quezon City. tel 7264681).

Follow URCC on Facebook and inquire about the caps while stocks last.
In the meantime, be sure to make it to Colt 45 URCC University Challenge 2011 coming this September 9. 1 Esplanade, Pasay City. For tickets: 381.0940 or 891.9999. For info: www.urccmma.com.

Heres the video. Things got a little out of hand as we didn't prepare for crowd control :0

We just unpacked a shipment of the Christian Cabuay x WIP Caps collab fitted. Called the 'Ka' cap, this collaboration is an overseas effort spanning from San Francisco USA. The name 'Ka' comes from the letter 'I' looking character from the BayBayin script. It's the traditional pre-Spanish era Philippine writing system. The front of the cap has this 'Ka' script over a crossed Calligraphy brush and a Filipino Native sword called the 'Maguindanao Kris'.
Expect to see the 'Ka' cap in our online store and at our retail partners real soon!

Still recovering from the ultra wicked B-Side weekend. Let's do the math. DO OVER Manila + IRIE SUNDAY Dancehall Bashment ÷ B-Side = √EPIC³. And the Rasta Soulja knit cap had a pretty good kick-off as well. Just Check back in a couple of days as we'll be posting photos and videos real soon. There's loads of B-roll stuff so we'll post those at the revived Nakayama blog.
In the meantime, here's another B-Side treat for the kids.
B-Side presents: A special film screening of 'BEATS, RHYMES & LIFE: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest'.

Event info here
'BEATS, RHYMES & LIFE: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest' is the award winning documentary by actor/director Michael Rapaport The film documents the back ground story as well as the current situation of A Tribe Called Quest. Clearly one of the most influential hip hop group of all time. This is true for us at WIP Caps as we grew-up listening to these guys throughout Middle School and High School.
Anyway, don't miss out on this opportunity to watch it at B-Side. Good luck to you if you're hoping to watch it at your favorite cinemas out here in Manila.
Beats Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest (2011) Movie Trailer HD
